Originally a traditional Signwriting business, the company was established in 1979 by our director and founder Richard Clarke. Initially just Richard and his brushes, we evolved over the years to keep pace with new technology and innovation, with computers and vinyl cutters eventually taking over from the hand painted posters and sign.
The big decision was then made to go digital, it was like starting the company all over again! We were one of the first to install the early Encad Novajet large format digital printer, with all the computer and software that all seemed like double dutch! It was a scary but fun time.
Paul Clarke with his business background became a partner and joined the company in 1996. This became a time of rapid growth and expansion. Several printers and laminators later, the business had become a forerunner in large format print and print finishing, and to enable us to continue to grow, we moved to our new premises in 2003.
Since moving to our present site we have continued to invest in the latest technology such as the superb Oce Arizona's UV direct to board high quality printer, with white ink technology, enabling us to stay ahead of the game.
Our latest pride and joy is the Zund G3 cutter, much of the company's work had involved time-consuming and labour intensive manual finishing, but the addition of the G3 has greatly improved the end of the production process with its amazing accuracy and quality of finish.
Martyn Norman joined the company as a partner in 2010 spear heading the growth of investment with invaluable experience in production workflow / management and sales. RS has now been trading for over 30 years with many long serving staff and a strong customer base we believe we will be trading for many more years to come.
